The woodworking industry's representation in RR Tycoon III

The handling of wood products and byproducts in the original RR Tycoon III releases has been somewhat questionable. Conveying of "Pulpwood" in closed hoppers suggests that the original programmers rather had sawdust and woodchips in their mind for that matter. We won't disagree that all these commodities can be satisfactorily grouped under a common one ("Pulpwood" for that matter) for the RR Tycoon purposes. Realizing this, leads us to proposing enhanced production chains for RR Tycoon III woodworking industry. There are claims that 100% of the logs that are harvested can be utilised in various ways. The attached schematic, courtesy of UPM-Kymmene Corporation, reveals some hitherto neglected cargo flows that can be adapted to RR Tycoon III adding variety and realism:
  • sawdust designated as "Pulpwood" from sawmills and furniture works to papermills
  • as written elsewhere, "Pulpwood" would form a main output of Recycling Plants rather than finished "paper"
  • not to forget wood as an energy source, a kiln can be introduced to convert logs and pulpwood to fuel such as charcoal, biomass, briquettes etc. incorporated into the generic "coal" category.
  • probably adding a minor Pulpwood demand to animal farms for "bedding" use

Of course, ratios and quantities will be a major thing to calibrate so that credibly sustainable economies are seeded.
